Louisa Donelson

“My work is inspired by nature’s delicate balance of chaos and order; the haphazard and wild, bisecting the deliberate and harmonious. The paintings emote an unspecificity of time and place and invite viewers into the future - or the past - or perhaps it’s a dream.”
Louisa Sagendorph Donelson is a Portland, Maine-based artist known for her evocative oil paintings, often created en plein air. Her work draws inspiration from by the order and chaos of the natural world, dreamlike landscapes, and the climate crisis. A Rhode Island School of Design graduate, Donelson brings a unique perspective shaped by her professional experience working in museums and deep reverence of the natural world.
